sparkPRO is designed to support teaching staff through the four themes of EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and Development Matters delivery, helping you to provide the best possible experience in the children’s learning journey.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a statutory framework set to provide standards for the learning, development and care of children up to five years old. It has been mandatory for all early year providers to follow from 1st September 2014 and ensures that the correct measures are taken to ensure that children are given the best possible start to life.
The theory behind EYFS can be analysed through looking at its four main themes;
Early Education – The British Association for Early Childhood Education state four main themes that underpin the full guidance of EYFS.
Every child is unique – The framework states that every child is unique, who are constantly learning, and that they can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive relationships – By supporting the children and building positive relationships with them, they can learn to be strong and independent.
Enabling environments – Children learn and develop successfully when placed in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs, and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and carers.
Learning and Development – Children are all unique, learning and developing all in their own different ways. EYFS covers the education and welfare of all children that are in early years education, including children with special educational needs and disabilities. The framework states that children should be taught by ensuring challenging, playful opportunities across the prime and specific areas of learning and development.
sparkPRO is leading software, designed to support a team through an EYFS learning journey supporting the achievement of the Early Years Outcomes/Development Matters Statements. It provides support by organising staff time, systemising procedures and giving ongoing EYFS assessment with a focus on quality during delivery. On top of this, it gives financial savings and operational abatement through cutting down on planning, observation, assessment and recording time.
Additional add-on modules, such as spark@HOME is a safe and secure, web-based software, specifically designed for parents and carers, which allows parents and carers to have more involvement in their child’s learning journey. It also helps to build relationships between parents and carers with your staff, the importance of which is highlighted in the ‘Enabling environment’ section of the EYFS framework.
